SHELLIE KELLY

Shellie Kelly is a figurative artist from the mid North Coast of NSW. 

She was born and educated in South Australia and later at the State University of New York, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts , majoring in Fine Arts and Education. 

Shellie has lived and worked near Coffs Harbour for the past 20 years. 

She has been involved in Art Education and Youth Art and is currently Education & Public Programs Officer with the Coffs Harbour City Gallery. 

Her long time fascination for life-drawing and portrayal of the figure is explained thus: 

“ My passion for the semi-abstract, expressionistic figures and landscapes has evolved from an early childhood spent gazing at the rolling skyline of the Flinders Ranges, and my association of the human form with the ancient mountain–scapes. 

My fervour for the mark on any surface has grown from my association of the line, the mark, with the celebration of music and love. 

The energy I try to capture on paper and canvas comes from the people I know and draw.”

Shellie Kelly has exhibited and sold widely in Adelaide, Sydney and the mid North Coast of NSW.
